Október 22.

Kőmíves Kelemenné/The Wife of Mason Kelemen
erecting her statue in Déva
a man-sized block made from the rubbles of the fortress

(Kőmíves Kelemenné/The Wife of Mason Kelemen
A well-known Hungarian ballad.
It’s about twelve masons who are ordered to build a fortress.
But the walls keep crumbling, so in order to strenghten them
they decide to sacrifice any of their wifes who arrives first.
There are two versions of the ballad.
According to these she should be either walled in alive,
or thrown into the fire and her ashes mixed into the lime.)
